What is the GenderAid?

The GenderAid is online, the goal of the GenderAid is to provide a complete overview of the treatment options within the genital gender care trajectory.

The GenderAid can be divided into two websites; treatment options for the feminizing (demasculinizing) genital surgery, or treatment options for masculinizing (defeminizing) genital surgery. This means that the GenderAid has been developed for trans men, trans women, but also for anyone else who wants to learn more about genital gender surgery.

The GenderAid provides information about genital gender surgery, enables you to compare different genital surgery treatment options, and provides custom genital surgery treatment recommendations based on your personal preferences.

The GenderAid is NOT affiliated with one specific care center. All medical information adheres to the quality and care requirements of the WPATH, but was collected directly from the community. The researchers however, are working from the Amsterdam Univerity Medical Centre in the Netherlands.

For now, The GenderAid focuses on the Dutch health care system, where the care adheres to the guidelines established by the WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health).

We are looking for international collaborators and further feedback to make the GenderAid more global!

  • Information

    The GenderAid contains comprehensible information about masculinizing and feminizing genital gender surgery. The informative needs were collected by focus groups and interviews. This way, the transgender community determined what should be included in the decision aid.

  • Comparitor

    The comparator provides arguments for and against each genital surgery treatment option. The arguments are statements taken directly from the focus groups. This allows you to compare the advantages and disadvantages of through personal experiences.

  • Choice Compass

    The Choice Compass help you clarify your personal preferences for genital gender care. By ranking the importance of the attributes directly related to each genital surgery treatment option, a personalized treatment recommendation will be provided to you.
